The Giving Season

4Hsummit

4Hsummit With the season of giving just around the corner, it’s fitting that EarthFresh was recognized for giving back to the community.

EarthFresh was one of fifteen outstanding partners awarded a “Best in Class Award” from the Daily Bread Food Bank. Presented at the beautiful Berkeley Fieldhouse on Queen Street East in Toronto, EarthFresh was acknowledged for their commitment, passion and generosity.

Having donated more than 750,000 pounds in fresh potatoes, EarthFresh is committed to help feed communities and end hunger.

“Daily Bread is so fortunate to be the recipient of EarthFresh’s donations for more than a decade. Their consistent and unwavering commitment to alleviating hunger, reducing food waste, and giving back to the community has helped us feed thousands of individuals and families in our community. We are humbled by their generosity.”

From The Ground Up 2017

We are fortunate enough to have a leader who believes that a great work culture helps to create a great product for our customers. This is why he decided to start a ritual of an annual company retreat – to help form bonds among team members, re-enforce the value of teamwork, and introduce everyone to new and exciting skills and activities. Plus – it’s a great escape for some fresh country air!

Our first annual retreat was held September 22nd, 23rd & 24th in beautiful Muskoka at Deerhurst Resort. This was a gorgeous back drop for all our events and we experienced the best “summer” weather of the year even though we officially were into Autumn. Here is a sample of the activities we enjoyed –

DAY 1

Mixology event – our large group broke into smaller groups to create the most unique, tasty, appealing cocktail. This team building event was hosted by Deerhurst staff who then judged each group who presented their cocktail, followed by a Deerhurst Dinner & Campfire.

DAY 2

Buffet Breakfast served in the beautiful Deerhurst dining room with stunning view of Lake Penninsula and the Muskoka woods. Presentation on Mindfulness by Kate Kerr (Mindfulness Guru of Wakeupkate). Kate taught us ways to integrate mindfulness at work. Rave reviews from everyone. Lunch served to refuel

Amazing Race – hosted by Deerhurst staff. Games of Volleyball, puzzle solving, problem solving and other team building activities.

Free time to explore Some of our team members went kayaking, hiking, played golf & tennis

Presentation on Leadership Skills

“The retreat provided a refreshing experience for me because I was able to form deeper connections with my co-workers and was able to get to know people on a more personal level. I also enjoyed how the activities benefited us both in the workplace and on a personal level like the mindfulness presentation. It’s amazing to work for a company that actually invests in their employees and I couldn’t be more proud to work for a company like EarthFresh.” -Nicholas Borcic

“It was an awesome weekend with lots of learning and laughter with my new EarthFresh family.” -Denise Hoskin, EarthFresh Grand Bend.”
