Meet Chef Carla
Learning to cook for herself at a young age sparked Carla’s love affair with food. Her Family’s roots are from the Southern United Stated and such she fondly remembers her Grandmother cooking grits, biscuits and gravy from scratch most weekend mornings.
Carla and her husband Bart are parents to three wonderful children Elisha, Abbey and Evan. After spending fourteen years in the Dental field, Carla decided to hang up her scrubs and pursue a long time dream of becoming a chef.
Her enthusiasm for all things culinary led her back to school in the fall of 2012 to pursue her diploma which then enabled her to step out professionally and enter the world of Culinary Arts. While studying she won first place in the 2014 Cultivating Culinary Competition sponsored by Foodland Ontario – her winning dish was tested and awarded first place be renowned Canadian Chef Christine Chushing. She was then asked to be part of Burlington’s first annual Beer Festival during which she performed workshops on cooking with Beer.
She joined the EarthFresh team to further foster her love to cook in a fun and supportive environment. Carla is always available to answer questions, share Potato tips and recipes to our customers and clientele alike. Carla is thrilled to “plant her roots” with EarthFresh and looks forward to growing with the company.
When not busy being a Mom or volunteering at her kids school, you’ll likely find Carla at local food markets or out in the country buying local food produce. Fresh, clean food is her passion and Carla strives to buy and supports local as much as she can. Without fail every Saturday she spends countless hours in her happy place – the kitchen – cooking up a storm for her friends, family and educating them on food they are about to eat. Food makes her happy – her motto is “I cook to taste the world”.
